About the Designer
Lucci and Orlandini
Commissioned by Versteel to design the SIMON and Chela chairs for the conference and training markets, Roberto Lucci and Paolo Orlandini have an extensive design background. Based in Italy, their design partnership started in 1968. Since then the two have designed over 340 products which have been or are now being regularly manufactured and sold in large quantities throughout the United States and Europe. Among the design team projects are office chairs and sofas for manufacturers such as Versteel, Thonet and Knoll, office furniture for Mascagni, Ora-Vinco and Knoll, as well as kitchen units, household appliances, lamps, television sets, boats, and children products.
With their designs in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Centre National D Art Contemporain of the Louvre in Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago; having exhibited at the Museum of Art and Industry in Hamburg and the Chicago Athenaeum among others, the design team is much respected throughout the design world.
